MADISON, Wi. - Spectrum Brands, Inc., (NYSE: SPC) today announced that the Company is increasing its workforce at the Rayovac manufacturing facility located in Fennimore, Wisconsin. The new jobs, which will include both salaried and hourly positions, are expected to increase the total number of employees at the Rayovac facility to approximately 250, from approximately 200 employees currently, by May 12, 2008.

Rayovac has recently developed advanced alkaline technologies designed to deliver maximum battery performance in meeting the increasing power requirements of high technology devices. This technology is an outgrowth of a multi-year joint research project between Rayovac and the U.S. Army's Communications - Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC). The selection of the Fennimore plant was based on its ability to produce higher quality batteries than many of those available from China and other developing world economies.
