Re-designed Ion Headlamp from Black Diamond Equipment

REINACH, Switzerland - The new Black Diamond Ion will be top of the line when it comes to small-size LED headlamps. The Ion is the only tiny headlamp (3.8 x 3.8 cm) that features a ½ Watt LED in a reflector. That makes her the ideal go-anywhere headlamp that will fit in the smallest pocket.

This is a worthy successor for Black Diamond's proven Ion. Featuring a size-to-brightness ratio that was unheard of until now, it has been redesigned and fitted with the latest in LED technology, projecting a beam of light from a ½ Watt HyperBright LED plus a reflector. This extends the lighting range to a maximum of 22 metres.

Battery life has also been extended. In energy saving mode you get 15 hours of light. The new Momentary Switch features two brightness levels and prevents unintentional battery discharge. You have to hold the switch for half a second to turn the headlamp on or off. The Ion may be tiny and weigh next to nothing (23 grams without/ 30 grams with 6 Volt battery), but it is nevertheless a high tech headlamp that will rise to all challenges of being in the dark, whether it's by accident or by choice.

The Ion is part of a line-up of 7 high tech headlamps. Whether it's a sitting start in a dark bouldering cave, skinning up before dawn, professional search and rescue missions, a spare light in your car or just for reading in the tent - you'll find the right headlamp from Black Diamond. The Ion will be available in Orange, Royal Blue or Silver at a very low suggested retail price of 14.99 Euro / £ 12.99 from November 2007 on. Because it's from Black Diamond, it comes with a high quality 6 Volt battery.
