WICHITA, Ks. - Sam Solomon, CEO and President of The Coleman Company, Inc., has been named to the Board of Directors for Outdoor Industry Association. Solomon was chosen to fill one of six open seats on the 24-member panel. The first meeting of the new board will take place during the Outdoor Retailer Show later this month.

OIA is widely recognized as a source for outdoor industry and active lifestyle research and is the premiere outdoor trade group in the United States. Sam Solomon has been instrumental in developing a disciplined and accomplished leadership team; overseeing a major infrastructure investment at Coleman with the U.S. SAP system implementation in Q1 2007; leading administrative affairs in Jarden Corporation's Outdoors Solutions segment for Jarden's acquisition of Pure Fishing in April 2007 and K2 segments in August 2007; and accomplishing the integration of Stearns, Inc. into the Coleman business. Solomon's multi-disciplinary and multi-national company experiences, plus his role as Senior Vice President, Administration and CFO at Coleman, uniquely fit his role as CEO. Solomon earned his undergraduate degree in marketing from Rider College (N.J.) and his MBA at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. He is a licensed C.P.A.
