MONTREAL, Canada - Future Lighting Solutions announced today that it will be presenting a seminar titled "Overcoming Solid-State Lighting Challenges Today" at the upcoming LED Japan/Strategies in Light conference in Tokyo. The session will be at 3 pm on Thursday, October 16, at the TEPIA Exhibition Hall.

Presenter Costa Politakis, Worldwide Market Segment Manager, General Lighting, will discuss strategies for dealing with some of the major challenges in building solid-state lighting applications with high power LEDs, ranging from differentiating data sheet values for LEDs and "real life" operating conditions using the "Usable Light Tool", showcasing the 5 stages of LED adoption , and ensuring product availability for volume manufacturing. The session will also cover other issues including industry standards currently under development, end customer needs, and the need for a third-party support structure.

Politakis has spoken at many of the leading solid-state industry seminars in the past few years, including LEDS 2008 in San Diego, SSL Design Summit 2008 in New Jersey, and Strategies in Light 2008 in Santa Clara, California, this year. As well as presenting in a series of customer conferences in Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong. His topics have included "Selecting the Right LED for Your Application," "Resources for the Luminaire Manufacturer," and "SSL Adoption in General Lighting: Overcoming the Obstacles."
