RICHMOND, Canada - SolarFocus announces the launch of the SolarDuo, a lightweight, durable, waterproof, solar-power-station that recharges portable electronic devices and AA batteries. The SolarDuo incorporates the latest in solar technology through SolarFocus' Triple Junction Technology for more efficient and powerful light conversion capabilities and for a higher power to weight ratio to fit the needs of outdoor enthusiasts.

"Imagine being able to take your favorite electronics, such as your MP3 player, camera, mobile phone and GPS system, on adventures to remote locations without having to worry about losing power," exclaims Allan Shoji, SolarFocus' Director of Sales. The SolarDuo's foldout, solar-panels are less than a millimeter thick, have a protective, DuPont polymer coating and are sewn into durable, Cordura nylon making them lightweight, scratch-proof, waterproof, shockproof and capable of withstanding diverse outdoor conditions.

SolarFocus' Triple Junction Technology captures three spectrums of light, compared to most of the competitors' Crystalline Solar Modules which only capture one spectrum, resulting in more efficient light to energy production, especially on partially overcast days.
"The SolarDuo's power bank includes 2 AA rechargeable NiMH batteries," confirms Shoji. "Consumers requested the addition of the rechargeable AA batteries for added power-source options. Now users have more versatility to use the rechargeable batteries or to plug directly into the SolarDuo's power-bank with the included USB cable and phone connectors." The SolarDuo supplies an additional ten plug-adaptors to fit multiple personal electronic devices such as cell phones, PDAs, and MP3 Players.

The SolarDuo requires an average of four hours of sunlight to recharge the power bank. For added versatility, in addition to the sun the SolarDuo can be recharged through the USB port of any computer. This spring, the SolarDuo will be available at REI, LL Bean, and EMS and will retail for $99.95

SolarFocus makes renewable energy solutions to power everyday mobile devices and camping accessories via lightweight, flexible solar panels. SolarFocus products are distributed in REI, LL Bean, EMS, Gaiam Real Goods as well as independent outdoor retail stores.
