TROY, Mi. - ilumisys, Inc., developer and producer of next-generation solid-state lighting technology, announces on behalf of its parent company Altair Engineering, that Patent No. 7,510,299 was issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, thus adding to ilumisys' foundational patent portfolio for the replacement of fluorescent tubes with light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

With the backing of Altair, its majority owner, ilumisys has a deep and substantial investment in research and development that includes more than 30 patent applications filed to date. Altair continues to aggressively protect its LED lighting intellectual property against infringing manufacturers and distributors, including additional litigation recently filed in United States District Court based on the new patent.

"Our pending and issued patents, plus our commitment to developing high-quality products while defending our patents from infringement, positions ilumisys to be a long-term market leader," said ilumisys President Dave Simon. "As the LED industry continues to evolve, ilumisys will keep growing our intellectual property through extensive research and development."
