Carmanah Receives Additional Order from US Marine Corps for Portable Airfield Lights

VICTORIA, B.C. - Carmanah has received an additional order from the USMC (US Marine Corps) for more than 600 units of its solar-powered LED portable airfield lights and related accessories. These units will be installed at a US air base in the Middle East.

US airfields in the Middle East typically have no existing infrastructure or power sources to run traditional hard-wired airfield lighting. As Carmanah's solar LED portable airfield lights require no hardwiring, trenching, outside power sources or ongoing maintenance for up to five years, they can save millions of dollars in up-front infrastructure costs, ongoing maintenance, energy costs and battery replacement. As well, Carmanah's solar LED portable airfield lights have provided field-proven performance and reliability under some extremely difficult airfield operating conditions, including intense heat, sand storms and daily jet blast.

Carmanah's Model A702 runway light was the first solar-powered LED aviation light to be used by US defense for fixed wing operations at remote airfield landing strips and expedited airfields. Fully-integrated, self-contained and watertight, the A702 is ideal for temporary and permanent runway edge lighting, obstruction lighting and heli-pad lighting applications.

Carmanah's Model A601 is the world's most advanced solar-powered LED portable aviation light with two miles of visibility and is completely integrated, self-contained, waterproof and compact. The A601 will operate at nearly any location on earth and will withstand jet blast on the ground as well as harsh environmental conditions and extreme temperatures.

Carmanah has been providing the USMC with solar LED airfield lighting since 2003 to increase safety and provide airfield lighting cues for USMC and Coalition Forces. More than 7000 Carmanah solar LED aviation lights, floodlights and accessories currently support USMC airfield operations alone in the Middle East region.

Carmanah's maintenance-free, self-contained solar LED lighting solutions offer reliable, cost effective solutions where infrastructure is not available or economically feasible.
