Battery Maker Gives New Energizer Energi To Go Instant Cell Phone Chargers to Emergency Response Teams Along the Gulf
Energizer's Energi To Go
ST LOUIS, Mo. - Energizer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ENR), a global leader in the dynamic business of providing portable power, is powering up disaster response teams in five cities along the Gulf Coast by donating hundreds of units of their newest product, Energizer® Energi To Go™ instant cell phone chargers to local emergency responders before the device becomes available nationwide.
Energizer Energi To Go product is a portable battery-powered device that supplies power to most wireless phones, charging them instantly so that users can start making phone calls in as few as 30 seconds after plugging in the device. As part of the company's ongoing "Plan. Prepare. Protect.™" hurricane preparedness program, Energizer has committed to donating nearly 1,000 units of Energizer Energi To Go to disaster response teams, including local American Red Cross chapters, city emergency management teams and homeland security offices, in Tampa, Miami, West Palm Beach, New Orleans and Houston.
"We developed Energi To Go because more and more Americans are cutting the cord, but it clearly can help emergency responders charge up their wireless phones while they're in the field helping others," said Mike Rivard, general manager of new product development for Energizer. "This device will help keep the lines of communication open so these organizations can be assured that they have the power to communicate in the wake of hurricanes and other disasters."
Energizer Energi To Go can power approximately 80 percent of the cell phone brands available in the United States including Nokia, Motorola, Sprint, and Samsung cellular phones and mini USB devices, including Blackberry and Motorola's Razr and Slvr models. The chargers will be available at retailers nationwide by September 1, 2006, at a suggested retail price of $19.99 per unit.
A dedicated community partner, Energizer recently donated $70,000 worth of batteries and flashlights to residents of Tampa, Miami, Houston, Mobile, Ala.; Wilmington, N.C.; Savannah, Ga.; and Charleston, S.C., by partnering with local emergency response organizations in each city to help educate citizens on the importance of hurricane preparedness.
