Developments in the Use of Silicones for LED Packaging
Dow Corning silicone LED optics
MIDLAND, Mi. - Dow Corning Corporation will present a paper on recent technical developments in the use of silicones for the packaging of high-brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LED) during Intertech's Light Emitting Diodes 2006 Conference being held in October in San Diego, Calif. As the power output of LEDs continues to increase, manufacturers are finding that silicones are the ideal packaging material often replacing traditional organic materials, which limit the power output and product life of LEDs.
Dow Corning offers an entire family of silicone encapsulants designed specifically for HB-LEDs. Additional information about Dow Corning's LED solutions can be found at its tutorial Web site at: High Brightness LED Tutorial.
In his paper, Recent Developments in Silicones for LED Packaging, Dow Corning's Maneesh Bahadur will discuss Dow Corning's latest technological achievements in silicone resins for LED packaging applications, including moldable, transparent materials that feature excellent optical properties.
