EAGLEVILLE, Pa. - Streamlight, Inc., has announced the introduction of a new flashlight to their ever-expanding line-up of illumination tools. The company, which produces lighting equipment for the automotive, public service, industrial, and outdoor fields, has added a new light dubbed the 'Night Com® Xenon/LED'.

The 'Night Com® Xenon/LED' is an addition to the company's 'Twin-Task' line of flashlights, which feature a combination of LED and incandescent bulbs designed to increase the flashlight's overall usability. The company claims that the 'Twin-Task' line represents the only machined aluminum flashlights to feature such dual light sources.

The flashlight uses two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries and measures a diminutive 5.43 inches (13.8 cm) in length. The light weighs just 5.44 ounces, despite its aircraft-grade machined aluminum housing. The flashlight housing sports a knurled grip, and is covered with a Type II anodized finish for durability. Standard O-rings and a polycarbonate lens serve to protect the light from water exposure (the light is not dive-rated).

The Night Com® uses a 4.8 volt Xenon bulb, which the company says produces a nominal 72 lumens of incandescent light for a maximum of 2.5 hours. According to Streamlight, the 2 UB-LEDs give off up to 8 lumens of light, while the indicator LED is able to preserve complete dark adaptation and meet military requirements for night vision use. The company also claims that the LEDs can provide a run time of up to 28 hours. Like most HB-LEDs, the company rates them for 100,000 hours of typical service life.

According to the company's press release, company president Brad Penney sates that, "Like all of our Twin-Task lights, the new Night Com gives users tremendous flexibility in selecting the light source and intensity needed for the task at hand. A special mode select dial allows users to choose from three lighting positions – 2 Ultra-Bright red or safety green LEDs when the light will be used for an extended period of time, a Xenon bulb when high-intensity light is needed and 1 low-power red or safety green LED to provide optimum night vision protection – a special consideration for armed forces professionals when operating under low-light conditions"

The suggested retail value of the Night Com® Twin-Task is $59.95 and comes with Streamlight’s limited-lifetime warranty.
