HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Officials at Bright Star Lighting Products announce the re-introduction of the Lighthawk™ – the first ever lantern powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and the lightest fire lantern available today. At just 1.9 lbs, it’s up to 42% lighter than popular competitive lanterns and 74% lighter than traditional lanterns.

“The choice to redesign the Lighthawk was the realization that minor changes to pertinent features could be made to increase the safety and visibility of the end user,” said Bright Star Sales & Marketing Director, Matt Malcolm. “So, with the safety of firefighters in mind, Bright Star reinvented the Lighthawk. One of the most notable changes can be found in the configuration of the LED taillights. The signaling pattern is now better & brighter than before. Bright Star has also realized that the preference of flashlight accessories varies from one user to another. Therefore, it now offers the firefighter the options to choose between models that offer a fixed or articulating head. In addition, firefighters can enjoy the standard shoulder strap that is included with all models or upgrade to the optional seat-belt style strap.

According to Malcolm, the Lighthawk has kept all the great features that made it a leader in the industry. The Lighthawk still has a high-powered primary xenon bulb, combined with the LED taillights, to provide firefighters with unparalleled brightness and smoke cutting ability. A first responder favorite, the Lighthawk’s low-battery indicator signals that there are 30-minutes of power remaining.

The Lighthawk remains the industry standard in professional fire lanterns with these exceptional features and attributes.

  • Either a fixed or articulating head that rotates 90 degrees for greater flexibility.
  • Rubber-coated three-position toggle switch-strategically placed for intuitive operation.
  • Two “quick-release” strap options: Lightweight strap (included) and optional seat-belt style.
  • Super-tough, chemical- and heat-resistant and waterproof nylon casing.
  • Ergonomic, ribbed texture handle ensures a sure grip, even with gloves.
  • Rubberized head, handle and base for shock absorbency.
  • Class I, Division 2 safety rating pending.

Two Lighthawk models are available: 4-cell and 6-cell. The 4- and 6-cell versions deliver 264 lumens or 120,000 candlepower using a 12-watt xenon bulb for 2.5 and 3.5 hours, respectively.

“The Lighthawk is a reflection of valuable input we received,” Malcolm explains. “We heard their need for a lightweight, high performance lantern equipped with highly visible taillights that could provide enough runtime for an entire shift. From that feedback came the Lighthawk. Then, in an effort to assure that the Lighthawk is truly the best that it can be came the new and improved model. The Lighthawk is without doubt, a fire lantern that meets the needs of a wide range of firefighters and other public safety professionals.

Even though the Lighthawk is the most advanced professional lighting innovation serving the fire market, it is competitively priced with other fire lanterns on the market today. The light is available exclusively through professional distributors. Measuring 9.5” long, 3.125” in diameter and 5.125” in height, the light is backed by a lifetime warranty, guaranteeing against defects in materials or workmanship for the life of the product.
