Xenon Flash Technology Delivers Superior Photo Quality that Consumers are Demanding from their Mobile Phone Cameras

PerkinElmer, Inc.

PerkinElmer, Inc.

WALTHAM, Ma. - PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE: PKI), a global technology leader in Health Sciences and Photonics, today announced multiple orders for mobile phone flash assemblies using its Xenon-based flash technology. Xenon is being increasingly recognized as a critical technology to enhance the performance of high-end mobile phone cameras. The Company anticipates being able to ramp production of its mobile phone flash technology to generate more than $10 million in sales within the next twelve months.

"We are very pleased that innovators in the industry have recognized the performance advantages of our Xenon flash technology for the rapidly growing camera phone market," said David Nislick, President, Specialty Lighting, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. "We will continue to drive advances in our Xenon flash technology to ensure that our global customers are able to meet increased consumer demand for high-quality photography using mobile phone cameras."

PerkinElmer is the global leader in Xenon flash technology for the consumer and professional camera industry. Xenon flash, which enables 100-150x faster shutter speeds as compared with LED flash, is the preferred light source in virtually all consumer and professional camera applications. The intense, but short, light discharge freezes motion and provides clear, crisp photos even in low-light conditions without the need for brightness modification, contrast correction or image stabilization.
