Zywyn Corporation ZD850 LED Driver
SUNNYVALE, Ca. - Zywyn Corporation today introduced ZD850, the high power constant current LED driver of up to 1.5A for the industrial lighting market segment.
The ZD850 is a constant off-time, high power LED driver IC using a buck converter topology that is capable of driving up to 1.5A of output current. It operates from a selective input voltage range of 4VAC to 16VAC, or 5VDC to 27VDC, and provides a regulated programmable constant output current for one to five high power LEDs connected in series per string.
“We use a very unique patent-pending design technique with AC/DC bridge rectifier, linear regulator and internal high voltage NDMOS power switch built-in on-chip,” said Raymond Chow, Zywyn CEO. “This approach significantly reduces the external component counts and the bill of material cost. The ZD850 is ideal for cost effective and space saving solution for industrial lighting applications.”
The ZD850 is based on a high efficiency PFM control design with over-voltage circuit protection and over-temperature thermal protection, allowing good LED current regulation over a wide range of supply voltages using conventional transformers or the E-transformers.

The ZD850 is available in a thermally enhanced 16-pin exposed TSSOP green package. Pricing for the ZD850LEY is US$1.27 each in 1K quantities. Samples and evaluation boards (ZD850EVB) are available from stock and can be requested through Zywyn sales representatives. Lead-time for production quantities is about 12 weeks ARO.
